Stranger than fiction

Just watched a 60 Minutes interview with Stephen Glass and Chuck Lane, subjects of “Shattered Glass,” a movie that documents one of the biggest frauds in the history of journalism. The best part was the end when Lane, Glass’s editor at the time who eventually busted the young writer, was asked about Stephen’s apology to the people he betrayed…

“If it was sunny outside and Steve and I were both standing outside in the sun, and Steve said to me, ‘It’s a sunny day,’ I would immediately go check with two other people to make sure it was a sunny day.”

As a side note, Glass got a six-figure advance for his fiction novel about a journalist who is a compulsive liar.
